Outcome 1 - Eco

As a graphic designer working within the creative industry there are many ways for us to help reduce our carbon footprint and make a better impact with in the environment:-

· Purchasing and using energy efficient equipment is a great way to start reducing carbon emissions. Things such as computers and monitors as well as other electrical equipment use a great deal of energy even just sitting on standby so getting equipment that can help reduce this can greatly reduce our impact.

· Insulating and covering your workplace is also a great way to help save energy. A properly insulated workplace will greatly reduce the need for excess heating, lowering the emissions output.

· Recycling waste and excess from the workplace is another great way to help reduce your carbon footprint, items made from wood, paper, glass, metal and plastic can all be recycled.

· Getting the bus or train to work is a great way to save on your imprint. Even cycling or carpooling can greatly affect on the emissions you out put.

· Saving on printing and sending emails around is a much better way to reduce our output. Instead of printing off x50 of the one document for passing around, send it via email to everyone, saving 50 sheets of paper.

· Make the most use of servers and equipment, and include solutions such as virtualisation. Server virtualisation can optimise the hardware demands of services further, reducing costly and wasteful under-use of resource; even to the point of decommissioning servers during periods of very low use.
